Brock Lesnar To Defend The WWE Championship On March 5th

Brock Lesnar will be defending the WWE Championship on Saturday March 5th at a house show event. The champion will be putting the title on the line at the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden.

During the February 21st edition of Raw, Brock Lesnar came out to celebrate becoming WWE Champion once again following a victory at the Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event. As Lesnar was about to address the upcoming winner takes all match at WrestleMania, Paul Heyman interrupted The Beast Incarnate. Heyman then made the announcement of the WWE Championship defence on March 5th and stated that the opponent would be Bobby Lashley.

It should be noted that in storyline and potentially genuinely, Bobby Lashley is not cleared to compete. Lashley was taken out of the Elimination Chamber match due to concussion protocol. However, this seems to be only storyline, and the former WWE Champion did not receive a concussion at the event. However, as reported by Inside The Ropes, the real reason why Lashley was taken out of the Elimination Chamber match was becasue The All Mighty requires shoulder surgery, and may miss WrestleMania as a result. In the war of words between Lesnar and Heyman, the special counsel to Roman Reigns stated that if Lashley can’t be present at Madison Square Garden, a suitable replacement will be found.

The March 5th Madison Square Garden house show is being promoted with a loaded card. At the time of writing, Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair are all advertised to make an appearance.

The war of words ended with Brock Lesnar announcing that he will be on SmackDown on February 25th, and will be confronting Roman Reigns on the show.
