A new champion was crowned on a pre-taped SmackDown, which is due to take place on Friday February 18th.

On the show, Sami Zayn defeated Shinsuke Nakamura to become the new Intercontinental Champion. At the time of writing, the circumstances in which Zayn captured the title have not been announced. However, those in attendance have provided images of the new champion. Twitter user Ritamrakshit516, who was in attendance for the taping, has posted the following:

Sami Zayn earned the right to challenged Shinsuke Nakamura for the Intercontinental Championship following a victory in the 12 Days of Christmas Gauntlet match, which took place on the Christmas Eve SmackDown. Coincidentally, that episode was also pre-taped. The victory now makes Zayn a 3 time Intercontinental Champion.

The February 18th SmackDown was pre-taped due to the roster travelling to Saudi Arabia that day for the Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event. To view other spoilers from the pre-taped show click here.
