The first match has been officially announced for WrestleMania 38 by WWE. In the biggest event of the company’s Premium Live Event calendar, Roman Reigns will defend the Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar.
Lesnar earned the right to challenge for a World Championship by being victorious in the 2022 Men’s Royal Rumble match. On the January 31st edition of Raw, The Beast Incarnate came to the ring and confronted Bobby Lashley, who defeated Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble. Lesnar then told Lashley that the decision has been made and it would be Reigns vs. Lesnar at the most stupendous two-night WrestleMania in history.
Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar are no strangers to facing each other at WrestleMania. At WrestleMania 31, Reigns and Lesnar faced off for the first time ever. This match ended with Seth Rollins storming to the ring to cash in the Money in the Bank contract and walking out with the WWE Championship. The second match took place at WrestleMania 34, in which Lesnar was victorious.
It should be noted that both men could walk into WrestleMania with a top championship. As announced on Raw, Brock Lesnar will be competing inside the Elimination Chamber, with an opportunity at the WWE Championship taking place at the Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event.
