The date for the in-ring return of Jon Moxley has been announced. The current GCW Champion will be competing at The Wrld On GCW pay-per-view on Sunday, January 23rd. At the event, Moxley will be defending the GCW World Title against “The Notorious187.”

Jon Moxley has not been seen inside a ring since October 2021. It was announced in early November that Jon Moxley was entering an alcohol treatment program. The news was announced by AEW president Tony Khan:

Jon Moxley has allowed me to share with you that he is entering an inpatient alcohol treatment program.  Jon is a beloved member of the AEW family. We all stand with him and Renee, and all of his family and friends, as he shifts his focus to recovery.

During Mox’s time away to receive treatment, Game Changer Wrestling made the announcement that Jon Moxley would not be stripped of the GCW World Title. Moxley defeated former champion Matt Cardona in an open challenge at the GCW pay-per-view entitle The Art of War Games.

While this has been the first official announcement for an in-ring return for Jon Moxley, it is still possible that the AEW star may appear on All Elite Wrestling programming before this date. At the time of writing, AEW have not made any announcements regarding a return.
