Wrestling Ratings For January 7th

The ratings for the January 7th editions of SmackDown and AEW Rampage have been revealed. On average, 2.271 million people watched SmackDown, while 588,000 viewers watched Rampage. The numbers were obtained by Brandon Thurston from Wrestlenomics:

Compared to the previous original broadcast of SmackDown, which took place on Christmas Eve, an increase in viewers has been seen. As the December 24th SmackDown drew 1.972 million viewers, the increase calculates to approximately 15.16%. While SmackDown did air on New year’s Eve, this was a recap of 2021, as opposed to original programming.

Rampage has also seen an increase in viewers. As the December 31st Rampage drew an average audience of 453,000 viewers, the increase calculates to approximately 12.14%.

In regards to key demographic ratings, 756,000 viewers were aged between 18 and 49 years old, equating to a 0.58 rating. This is up from Christmas Eve’s rating of 0.48. Rampage saw 308,000 people in the same age bracket watch the show, equating to a 0.24 rating, also up from the New Year’s Smash rating of 0.19.

SmackDown mainly focused on the fallout from Day 1, which saw the next challenger for Roman Reigns’ Universal Championship revealed. The highlight of AEW Rampage saw the third match of fan favourite Hook.
