Brock Lesnar will be making an in-person appearance on an upcoming edition of SmackDown. Following the events of Day 1 and the January 3rd Raw, Lesnar stated that he will be present at the January 7th edition of the blue brand.
Following Roman Reigns testing positive for COVID-19, Lesnar was inserted into the WWE Championship match at Day 1. The Beast would go on to pin former title holder Big E to become the new WWE Champion for a 6th time in his career.
On the January 3rd edition of Monday Night Raw, a Fatal 4-Way match between Bobby Lashley, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and Big E was booked to see who would face Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble. The match was won by Bobby Lashley, meaning that the All Mighty will be facing Brock Lesnar for the first time in one on one competition.
After the match, the camera cut to Lesnar, who was approached for a comment following Lashley’s victory. Rather than address the upcoming title defence at the Royal Rumble, the WWE Champion said the following:
“A comment? I do have a comment. Tell Roman Reigns I’ll see him this Friday on SmackDown.”
The quote confirms that not only will Roman be recovered in time for the January 7th show, the rivalry between Lesnar and Reigns is not over. Despite Brock Lesnar being the top champion for Raw, the WWE Champion has free agent status, meaning that he can appear on any WWE brand. The free agent status was granted to Lesnar by his advocate Paul Heyman.
