Toni Storm Reportedly Parts Ways With WWE

Toni Storm has reportedly left WWE, according to a new report. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful broke the news on Wednesday December 29th in a series of social media posts:

In a follow up post by Sapp, Toni Storm asked for her release from WWE, as opposed to the company making the decision. At the time of writing, neither WWE or Storm have made a statement regarding the release.

In a follow up post by Fightful Select, WWE have said to have been “blindsided” by the news that Toni requested her release. The report also says that after multiple rounds of releases in 2021 due to “budget cuts” it would be difficult for WWE to justify not granting the release.

Toni Storm was prominently featured in the weeks prior to her departure. Most recently, Storm challenged Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship on the Christmas Eve edition of the blue brand. Flair successfully retained the title on the show.

Toni Storm debuted in 2017 as part of the second Mae Young Classic tournament. Storm would advance to the semi-finals of the inaugural tournament, but was eliminated by the eventual winner Kairi Sane. Storm would return for the 2018 tournament, and went on to win by defeating Io Shirai in the finals at the WWE Evolution pay-per-view.

At NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool, Toni would defeat Rhea Ripley to capture the NXT UK Women’s Championship, which was Toni’s only championship win in WWE.

Features of wrestling will provide updates on this story when they become available.
