WWE Championship Match At Day 1 Now A Fatal 4 Way

The WWE Championship match at the upcoming Day 1 pay-per-view has been changed from a Triple Threat to a Fatal-4 Way match. Due to the events that took place on the December 13th edition of Monday Night Raw, Bobby Lashley has been added to the match, meaning that Big E will defend the title against Lashley, Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins on New Year’s Day.

At the start of Raw, Bobby Lashley came to the ring with MVP and both men protested the fact that The Almighty is not in the WWE Championship match at Day 1. Both Rollins and Owens interrupted the promo to state that while they had both earned their way into the match on January 1st, Lashley has not. WWE Officials Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville then stated that Bobby Lashley would be added to the title match if he could defeat Big E, Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins in singles matches on the same night.

Kevin Owens was the first superstar to face the former WWE Champion. Owens quickly tapped out to The Hurt Lock, to which Kevin explained later was self preservation. Rollins was next to face Lashley later in the night, in which Owens attacked Rollins to attempt to get the match ended by disqualification, and earning the victory for The Visionary. However, Pearce and Deville did not accept this result, and restarted the match with no disqualifications, in which Lashley then defeated Rollins.

WWE Champion Big E faced Lashley in the main event segment of the red brand. To avoid the result of the second match, this match was also a no disqualification match. Following multiple interferences from Rollins, Owens and MVP, Lashley eventually picked up the victory over Big E and now has an opportunity at the WWE Championship.

The WWE Day 1 pay-per-view will take place on Saturday January 1st. The current card for the event is as follows:
