Edge’s Return Interrupted By Another Returning Superstar

Two returns took place on the November 29th edition of Monday Night Raw. Firstly, WWE Hall of Famer Edge made his return to Raw, which was the first appearance since the Rated R Superstar was drafted to the red brand. During Edge’s promo, another return took place as The Miz, alongside his wife Maryse, made his return to WWE to confront Edge.

Whilst Edge’s return to WWE was announced ahead of time, The Miz’s appearance was unannounced. The A lister has been absent from WWE for a number of weeks due to being a contestant on Dancing With The Stars. The Miz was eliminated in week 7 of the competition.

In regards to Edge, the last appearance by the former WWE Champion was at Crown Jewel, where the feud between him and Seth Rollins was concluded in a Hell in a Cell match. Edge appeared in front of the live crowd to confirm that the rivalry with Rollins is over and was looking for a new challenger. While AJ Styles, Kevin Owens and Finn Balor were amongst the names mentioned, it was The Miz who interrupted Edge.

The promo back and forth contained some out of WWE programming aspects. Firstly, Edge appeared to reference the recent promo battle between MJF and CM Punk by stating the following:

“You have people on other shows saying your name just to get a cheap reaction. You live rent-free in a lot of heads.”

Also in the promo exchange between Edge and The Miz, the recent release of John Morrison was alluded to. The Hall of Famer said that The Miz’s main reason for being in WWE was to enhance his outside projects with no regards for his friends:

“You use [WWE] to get notoriety for your next endeavour, for your next reality show, for your next dance competition while you leave your partners high and dry to get fired.”

It appears that The Miz vs. Edge will be a match that will take place in the future, possibly at the upcoming Day 1 pay-per-view. At the time of writing, the only match confirmed for Day 1 will see WWE Champion Big E defend his title.
