John Morrison And Hit Row Amongst Latest WWE Releases

WWE have unfortunately released another 8 superstars in their latest round of cuts, with the news being broken on Thursday November 18th. The names that have been released from their WWE contracts are as follows.

  • John Morrison
  • Top Dolla
  • Ashante Adonis
  • Isiah Swerve Scott
  • Tegan Nox
  • Drake Maverick
  • Shane Thorne
  • Jaxson Ryker

The news was initially broken by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, who posted the update of all 8 names on social media:

The news of all 8 releases came at once, as opposed to previous rounds of releases where names came through gradually throughout the night. As also mentioned by Sapp, WWE executive John Laurinitis sent the email that broke the news, with budget cuts being stated as the reason behind the releases. This reason has been used throughout the multiple rounds of releases throughout 2020 and 2021.

This is the latest in multiple rounds of WWE releases that have happened throughout 2021, and the second round in November. The previous round of cuts, which occurred on November 4th, included Keith Lee and Nia Jax on the list of released superstars. While WWE have not made an official statement regarding the releases, multiple superstars have confirmed the news on their social media. Top Dolla has posted the following:

The release of Hit Row was one of the most surprising names on the list. The group were called up to SmackDown following the October WWE Draft, and were featured prominently on the blue brand.

The releases of WWE superstars has been an unfortunate theme that has run throughout the year. As reported by Inside The Ropes, 80 superstars in total have now been released in 2021. All main roster superstars will have a 90 day no-compete clause before they can compete in another promotion, while NXT talent have a 30 day no compete clause.
