The news about the releases was first broke by Twitter account WrestleVotes, who have a good track record in regards to reporting WWE related stories. Unfortunately, in a follow-up tweet, WrestleVotes informed that the number of releases were more than initially expected.

The names of superstars started to appear via Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful, who first announced Scarlett Bordeaux was the first name to be no longer employed by WWE.

Names started to gradually appear on social media throughout the evening, with both Sapp and some of the superstars themselves confirming the news of their release. However, despite both main roster and NXT talent being released, WWE themselves are yet to issue a statement regarding the recent releases.

The news about the releases follows the unfortunate trend of mass releases in 2021. Previous high profile releases have included Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt. Below is the full list of stars released in both 2020 and 2021 by WWE:

As usual, all main roster talent have a 90 day no-compete clause, while NXT talent’s clause is 30 days. Moving forward, it will be interesting to see in which promotions, if any, the released superstars will be appearing on in the near future.
