Kurt Angle Recalls “The Worst Storyline I’ve Ever Done”

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle recently talked about what he called both “the worst angle and “the worst storyline” that he has ever done. Speaking on his podcast, The Angle Show, Kurt discussed the 2005 storyline where he was feuding with Booker T. Specifically, Angle discussed the part of the storyline where he was stalking Booker T’s wife Sharmell:

“To do that and pretend I was stalking his wife. It was the worst angle I’ve ever done. Worst storyline I’ve ever done. I did it anyway because I’ve always been a team player, but I was not comfortable doing it.”

In regards to the origin of the infamous angle, the former WWE Champion does not know specifically where the idea came from. However, Angle does state that Vince McMahon may of had something to do with it. The reason for this was becasue McMahon is a ribber and the whole angle was perhaps a way to mess with Angle:

“I have no idea where the idea came from. I think that Vince McMahon, you know Vince McMahon is kind of a ribber. He will do stuff to mess with you a little bit and take kind of, you know, shove it in your face. I think that he thought I had this fetish for black women. I like all women, white, black, Hispanic; it doesn’t matter. My wife is half-Hispanic, half-Italian. And, you know, so Vince thought I had this fetish for black women, and he thought it would be a funny program, and I was not comfortable by any means; I had so much respect for Booker T and Sharmell.”

While Kurt hated the angle, the Olympic gold medal winner has the upmost respect for both Booker T and Sharmell. In particular, Angle has praised Booker T’s in-ring work and the timing of Sharmell.

“They were incredible,” angle continued, “Very entertaining. Sharmell never missed a spot. She was on all the time. She had great timing. Booker T is one of the best wrestlers I’ve ever got into the ring with. Those two together were unstoppable.”

The ending of this feud occurred at the 2005 Judgement Day pay-per-view, in which Booker T defeated Kurt Angle.
