A new number one contender for the WWE Championship has been decided following the events of the October 25th edition of Monday Night Raw. Seth Rollins defeated Finn Balor, Rey Mysterio and Kevin Owens in a Fatal 4 Way Ladder match on the season premiere edition of the red brand. This means that Rollins will be the next superstar to challenge for the title, which is currently held by Big E.
The Raw season premiere kicked off with Big E acknowledging the events of Crown Jewel, including Xavier Woods’ King of the Ring victory and praising Drew McIntyre, who Big E successfully defended his championship against at the Saudi Arabian pay-per-view. The WWE Champion then asked who would be next to challenge for the title, which brought out Rollins, Mysterio, Owens and Balor, who each staked their claim.
WWE official Sonya Deville then made the announcement that the ladder match would be taking place on the show later in the night. In the match, the opponents were taken out one by one. Rey Msyterio was sent through a table, Owens through a ladder and Balor hit with the stomp. This left the path clear for Seth Rollins, who climbed the ladder to grab the title opportunity.
No date for the future WWE Championship match has been announced. However, it is unlikely that Big E vs. Seth Rollins will be taking place at the next event. This is because the next WWE pay-per-view is Survivor Series, and WWE are promoting the return of champion vs. champion at the event.
