WWE Reportedly Cancel TLC Pay Per View

WWE have cancelled an upcoming pay per view, according to new reports. The TLC event [Tables, Ladders and Chairs] was originally pencilled in to take place in December, however recent reports have stated that this will not be the case.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer has stated the reason to cancel this pay per view is due to the officially announced event, Day 1, taking place on January 1st. The idea behind the cancellation is that with both Day 1 and the Royal Rumble taking place in January, there will be too many events taking place in a short space of time.

“The decision was made that… originally there was going to be a pay-per-view in Chicago at the Allstate Arena in mid December, and the feeling is now that doing 12 a year, and the December pay-per-view will actually be January 1 in Atlanta. The idea of doing January 1 rather than do mid-late December. And then they’re still gonna do Royal Rumble as the January pay-per-view.

“A lot of people were wondering, when they moved the December Chicago date from being a pay-per-view to being a television taping, who’s gonna get the pay-per-view? And the answer is that there is no pay-per-view.”

The statement made by Meltzer has also been corroborated by Fightful Select, who state that the decision to cancel the December pay per view was made many weeks ago.

The TLC pay per view is one of many stipulation based events held by WWE, and has been a regular December fixture in the pay per view calendar since 2018. The most recent event, TLC 2020 was headlined by Randy Orton defeating The Fiend in a Firefly Inferno match.
