WWE Announces Supersized SmackDown For October 15th

WWE have announced that the next instalment of Friday Night SmackDown will be longer than usual and will be partly competing directly with All Elite Wrestling.

The October 15th edition of the blue brand is being marketed as Supersized SmackDown by WWE. Airing from the Toyota Arena in Ontario California, the show will be 2 and a half hours long, instead of the usual 2 hours. It has also been announced that the extra 30 minutes of the show will be commercial free, meaning that fans will be less likely to switch channels during the additional time given to the show.

A big return, the continuation of two tournaments and an in-ring return have all been announced ahead of time to take place on the upcoming show. The following matches and segments have been announced by WWE to take place on the Supersized SmackDown:

  • Brock Lesnar returns to SmackDown.
  • Finn Balor vs. Sami Zayn – King of the Ring tournament semi-final match.
  • Carmella vs. Zelina Vega – Queen’s Crown tournament semi-final match.
  • Sonya Deville vs. Naomi – This will be the first match for Deville in over a year.
  • Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks.

As previously noted, the extra 30 minutes will directly clash with AEW’s Friday night show, Rampage. Tony Khan, who is the president of All Elite Wrestling, has responded to this and has predicted a victory in the ratings for his promotion.
