Sonya Deville will be making her return to the ring on the October 15th episode of SmackDown. In Deville’s first match in over a year, the WWE official will face Naomi in a singles match. The news was announced in a backstage segment on the October 8th episode of the blue brand:
Naomi and Sonya have been verbally sparring for a number of weeks. The former SmackDown Women’s Champion has not had a match for a number of weeks, and feels that Deville is responsible for the exclusion from in-ring competition. The confrontations came to a head when Naomi protested in the ring on the September 24th SmackDown. The result of this protest saw Naomi removed from the arena by security.
Sonya Deville’s last match in WWE was at SummerSlam 2020, which was against her long time friend Mandy Rose. The stipulation for the match was that the loser would leave WWE, which was won by Rose. Deville would not be seen on WWE TV until January 2021, where she has served as a WWE official alongside Adam Pearce.
