Becky Lynch Original Return Plans Revealed

Becky Lynch has revealed the original plans for her return to WWE. The SmackDown Women’s Champion recently spoke to Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT during a press interview as part of WWE’s UK tour. In the interview, Lynch revealed that the original return date was back in April as part of WrestleMania 37:

“So I thought I was going to be back by Mania, I was ready to come back by Mania. But I got called at SummerSlam, but I stayed ready. I stayed ready becasue I am a hero to the people and a man of the people. I was, but they are changing their minds on me, and that’s on them. I believe the original return date was going to be October.”

The Man made her return to WWE at SummerSlam on August 21st in a surprise appearance. Becky’s first match back was against former SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair. In a quick match, Lynch defeated Belair to become the new Women’s Champion for the blue brand. However, The EST was not going to be the first opponent for the returning Becky. In a follow-up question, Alex McCarthy asked if Bayley would have been a possible WrestleMania opponent for Becky Lynch. The Man confirmed this may have been a possibility if the return happened back in April:

“That had been thrown around, yes.”

Bayley did not have a match at WrestleMania 37. Instead, the former SmackDown Women’s Champion was seen on the show as part of a segment involving WrestleMania hosts Hulk Hogan and Titus O’Neil and recent Hall of Fame inductees The Bella Twins.

Unfortunately, the match between The Man and The Role Model will not be taking place in the near future. Bayley suffered an injury back in July as part of training to prepare for WWE’s return to the road. It was announced by WWE that the injury would side-line Bayley for roughly 9 months.

Along with Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks, Bayley and Becky Lynch are known as The Four Horsewomen in WWE. Although all four Superstars have fought each other in varying combinations multiple times, the group have never teamed together as a singular team. Also in the interview, Becky described one circumstance that may unite all four Horsewomen:

“As a stable? Gosh, I don’t know. We all just love beating the hell out of each other. There is so much history between all of us that I don’t know. One thing that I do consider is the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Now we are seeing a lot of girls coming up and disrupting the order, and so I don’t know that we like that. So maybe I’d rather Charlotte? No I can’t say that. Maybe I’d rather Sasha and Bayley on top than one of these newcomers, Rhea Ripley or whatever, yeah. Maybe if that was an idea it would maybe be the way to go.”
