CM Punk Announced For Match At AEW Rampage Grand Slam

CM Punk’s first match for AEW TV programming has been announced. Punk will be in action against Powerhouse Hobbs at AEW Rampage as part of AEW’s Grand Slam double show from Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City.

Following CM Punk’s debut victory at AEW’s All Out pay per view, The Best in the World addressed the fans in attendance on the September 8th episode of Dynamite.

Punk’s celebratory promo was cut off by Taz, who claimed he was ‘tired of this bullsh*t love-fest’ that was being received for CM Punk. The Chicago native responded that he would happily take on all challengers and told Taz to send any member of his team to fight.

On the September 15th episode, CM Punk was on commentary for the first half of Dynamite. During the show, Punk was confronted by an enraged Taz, who was annoyed that CM Punk took his place on the commentary table. The former multi-time world champion then stood up to Taz and his son hook, but was then blind sided by Powerhouse Hobbs. The segment ended with Hobbs driving CM Punk through the commentary announce table.

It was confirmed later in the show that Punk vs. Hobbs will be taking place on the Grand Slam edition of AEW Rampage. The full line-up for AEW Rampage, Grand Slam is as follows:

  • CM Punk vs. Powerhouse Hobbs
  • Chris Jericho and Jake Hager vs. Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky
  • Adam Cole and The Young Bucks vs. Christian Cage and Jurassic Express
