The September 3rd SmackDown will be broadcast live from the Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville Florida. Currently only one match has been advertised by WWE ahead of the show. Roman Reigns will be in action and defending his Universal Championship against Finn Balor on the show.
Reigns vs. Balor was originally due to take place a number of weeks ago. However, upon the contract signing, John Cena interrupted and signed his name on the contract instead, main eventing SummerSlam in the process. On the August 27th SmackDown, Finn Balor interrupted the championship celebration by The Tribal Chief and the match was made official.
While not formally advertised for a match or segment, the event page does advertise Sasha Banks to appear on the show. Banks has not been seen on WWE TV since before SummerSlam, and was due to face Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship back on August 21st. Instead, The Boss was pulled from the match at the last minute and replace by Becky Lynch. In this surprise appearance, Lynch defeated Belair in a quick match to become the new SmackDown Women’s Champion.
