Becky Lynch Returns And Wins SmackDown Women’s Championship

Becky Lynch made her return to WWE at SummerSlam and captured the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Lynch surprised the fans in Las Vegas and defeated now former champion Bianca Belair in an impromptu match.

Bianca Belair vs. Sasha Banks had been promoted throughout the day, including right before with a video package promoting Belair vs. Banks. However, once the champion made her entrance, ring announcer Greg Hamilton announced that Sasha Banks was unable to complete. Instead, Carmella was then announced as the replacement. The Princess of Staten Island made her way to the ring. When the match was about to start, Lynch’s music hit.

Lynch then attacked Carmella and asked Bianca Belair for a championship match, which the EST accepted. Following a right hand and a Man Slam, Becky pinned Bianca to win the championship. The fan’s mood quickly changed following this squash, as the elation of The Man’s return quickly turned to silence. Many expected a longer and better match to take place at Allegiant Stadium.

The victory now makes Becky Lynch a 4 time SmackDown Women’s Champion. The return is the first that fans have seen of Lynch since May 2020. Becky relinquished her RAW Women’s Championship shortly after Money in the Bank 2020 because she was pregnant with her first child. The Man officially became The Mom on December 4th with the birth of her daughter Roux.
