Karrion Kross made his main roster debut on the July 19th edition of Monday Night RAW. The current NXT Champion faced Jeff Hardy in his first match on the main roster. Following a short match between the two superstars, Hardy picked up the win by pinning Kross by using the ropes for leverage.
Kross was presented differently to how he has been portrayed in NXT. Firstly, Karrion Kross was not accompanied by his valet Scarlett. Instead, the NXT Champion made his way to the ring alone. Secondly, this defeat is very different to how Karrion has been booked in NXT. Kross has defeated all of the top talent in NXT, and has been mostly undefeated in 2021. By contrast, Hardy has had some momentum but has not been on the same winning streak as Kross.
Kross is currently in his second reign as NXT Champion. The first title victory came at NXT TakeOver: XXX. At the event, Kross defeated Keith Lee in the main event of the show. Unfortunately, Kross had to vacate the title a few days later due to a shoulder injury. Karrion returned in December 2020 and won his second championship at NXT TakeOver: Stand and Deliver, this time defeating Finn Balor.
It appears that this appearance and shock defeat will not be a one off. Post match, the NXT Champion stated that he will get his revenge on Hardy. Scarlett has also commented on the result of the match.
