Bayley has suffered an injury and will be out for approximately 9 months. The news was broken by WWE on Friday July 9th. The following social media status confirmed the news of the injury:
It is being reported by Fightful Select that Bayley suffered the injury as a result of a return to the road training session. The injury is also being reported as a torn ACL.
Bayley was originally due to have a match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at Money in the Bank. The Role model was due to challenge champion Bianca Belair in an “I Quit” match. WWE official Sonya Deville announced that Carmella will be replacing Bayley in the Women’s Championship match. However, the venue and the match itself have been changed. The match will instead take place on the July 16th SmackDown, the first show with live fans in attendance since March 2020. Also, the match will be a standard singles match, as opposed to the original “I Quit” match stipulation.
Bayley did have a short promo on the July 9th SmackDown to address her injury. The video for this can be seen below:
