Zelina Vega made her return to WWE TV on the July 2nd edition of Friday Night SmackDown. WWE official Sonya Deville announced Vega as the newest addition to the Women’s Money in the Bank match, taking place on July 18th. Deville said the following:
“It is my honour to announce the second woman from SmackDown that will be competing in this year’s Money in the Bank ladder match. She is one of the most dynamic, and driven WWE Superstars. Please welcome Zelina Vega.”
Zelina Vega then stated her intentions when she won the contract. Vega has said that she will sneak attack the champion when they are beaten down to win her championship. Following this, Liv Morgan interrupted. Following a war of words and physical altercation, the match was made between Morgan and Vega:
The match was Zelina’s first time competing in a WWE ring in 2021. Despite this, Vega lost her returning match to Liv Morgan, following a roll up assisted by the ropes. It should be noted that despite this result, Zelina remains in the ladder match while Liv Morgan is still yet to qualify. On the previous week’s SmackDown, Morgan also defeated a contestant in the Money in the Bank match by winning her match with Carmella. Along with Zelina, Carmella was also just announced for the ladder match, as opposed to needing to qualify.
Zelina Vega was released from her contract in November 2020. Vega has made the following statement on social media following her return:
