Zombies invaded the WWE ThunderDome during WrestleMania Backlash. The undead were featured as enforcers for the Lumberjack match of Damian Priest vs. The Miz.
Before the match, John Morrison told The Miz that he could persuade the lumberjacks to help the A lister pick up the victory over Priest. However, Morrison discovered the following when opening the door to the lumberjack’s locker room:
When both Miz and Priest made their way to the ring, the zombies came from every angle. The undead chased both competitors into the ring and the commentators from their announce desk, with John Morrison also fleeing to the backstage area. The match then begun with both superstars brawling while trying not to be grabbed by the zombies.
In the closing moments of the match, The Miz and Damian Priest teamed up to take out most of the undead. With the majority of the lumberjacks taken out, the match resumed. John Morrison returned to try and help The Miz, but was caught by the undead and dragged from the barricade.
The closing of the match saw Damian Priest use his ‘Hit The Lights’ finisher on The Miz to win. Post match, the zombies piled on The Miz and seemingly devoured him. The match was used as cross promotion for the upcoming Netflix film Army of The Dead. The film stars former WWE Champion and WWE Legend Dave Bautista. The Army of The Dead was the main sponsor for WWE WrestleMania Backlash, and will be released on Netflix May 21st.
Also on the show, new tag team champions were crowned.
