Paul Wight has signed a contract with AEW. Paul is best known for his 20 year plus career in WWE as The Big Show. With WWE, he won the world championship 4 times, with 2 WWE Championship reigns and 2 World Heavyweight Championship reigns.

A quote from the official press release says the following:

“As 2021 shapes up to be the year for AEW’s biggest shows yet, today the promotion announced that wrestling legend Paul Wight signed a long-term deal, adding yet another universally regarded name to AEW’s roster of stars, legends, and upcoming talent. Wight will have an extensive role within AEW, and on top of his return to the ring, he will serve as a commentator on AEW’s newest show, AEW Dark: Elevation.”
Full press release can be found here.

This means that Paul will be factored into both wrestling and commentary moving forward. He has not been seen wrestling since the July 20th RAW, where he had an unsanctioned match against Randy Orton.

At the time of writing, there has been no official reason for the departure from WWE for Paul Wight. However, as with most former WWE talents, expect a tell all interview on an upcoming AEW or Chris Jericho podcast.
